“Art is the proper task of life.”
~Friedrich Nietzsche
Happy Monday everyone! Hope you had a lovely weekend. Summer bowed to Fall in the most graceful way imaginable Saturday—the letting go and the going on made easier by glorious azure skies and refreshingly crisp autumnal air. Sunday proved to be equally heaven-sent and a perfect day to stop by Chicago’s Navy Pier where the city had been playing host to more than 100 of the world’s premier galleries, to kick off its international arts season.
How fitting that the International Exposition of Contemporary/Modern Art and Design hosted its inaugural event, EXPO CHGO, at historic Navy Pier, as it serves as an artfully placed backdrop to a breathtaking city skyline.
Galleries both local and from across the globe were on hand, wowing the crowd with a blend of contemporary and modern art and design. Here’s just a peek at some of my favorites, that include works by Picasso and Hofmann, to name a few—
Chicago’s Shakespeare Theater provided a little fun by allowing attendees to become one with a masterpiece—George Seurat’s A Sunday Afternoon On the Island of La Grande Jatte. (I couldn’t resist
)
There were other opportunities to create your own work of art—this one, by moi, entitled: Greek God Illumined
Wishing you a glorious and an artful Autumn!
