Our road trip home from south Florida was full of surprises, the best of which was discovering one of the most amazing cities I have ever visited:  Savannah, Georgia.  There is a magic in this place that left me spellbound.  It’s rich history and European flair are all wrapped up with a great big bow of down-home southern charm. It is nothing less than captivating!  The gorgeous Forsyth Park, Savannah’s version of Central Park, is lined with massive Oak trees dripping with Spanish moss.

The grand fountain at the heart of the park was built to resemble the fountain at the Place de la Concorde in Paris.The visuals will leave you dizzy—-breathtaking architecture, stately mansions, gorgeous gardens and parks…and art of all kinds.  Everywhere.  Savannah is in fact, an art lovers paradise, with, according to our tour guide,  more art galleries per capita than New York City.  No surprise as the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) takes up residence here, attracting students from all over the globe.

Mr. Right and I stayed at The Mansion on Forsyth Park, which itself houses a gallery filled with more than 400 original works of art.   Judging from some of the reviews, not everyone gets the whimsical, eclectic, art-saturated style of the hotel, but I loved it!  I’ll have much more on that tomorrow.
