“Earth proudly wears the Parthenon as the best gem upon her zone.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Nashville, Tennessee
A full-scale replica of Athens Parthenon stands in Nashville’s Centennial Park, exacting in its detail to the original. The massively ornate structure, originally built for Tennessee’s 1897 Centennial Exposition, is one of the city’s main tourist attractions.
As impressive as the classical architecture is on the outside is what you will find on the inside: A nearly 42-ft. tall, gold-gilded statue of the Greek Goddess Athena. Nashville’s Athena is said to be the largest indoor sculpture of its kind in the Western World.
The Parthenon—Athena—in Nashville—who would have thought?

I had no idea this was in Nashville. I need to get out and about more! Looking forward to following you on your adventures.

You don’t usually think of the Parthenon and Nashville in the same sentence, but that’s what makes the city so great—lots of unexpected surprises and so charming!
Thanks for stopping by Laura and for the follow!

Great pics — makes me wonder why I chose ND over Vandy
Nashville is rarely thought of in any capacity outside of country music, The truth is that’s just a small part of what the city is about. Thank you for these lovely photos!
